Blog #9: Media

What's good y'all. I feel like I've always looked at media in a weird light. As instead of taking the content or opinion I see at face value I more of see it as their main message or the reason why they are posting this. For example when people post themselves doing very dumb or reckless things for views, the first thing that came to my mind is that the person is only doing it for attention. However, people can make a living off of things around that nature. Another example is Gio Wise, he's a basketball player on Tik Tok and he does a lot of unnecessary dribbling. He doesn't go anywhere with the moves he's doing and he almost always misses the shot. Of course he's not doing anything reckless or bad, but he posts videos of himself doing extra dribble moves when they don't work. In basketball dribbling moves are mostly one or two combos used to create space for a shot or go to the basket. In Gio's case he does a lot of extra moves and goes nowhere. He's got a lot of followers of this however and it's putting him in the position to make good money so you can't hate the grind too much you know. But originally seeing the clips I thought he just did all those moves for people to see and he'd get famous off of it. A lot of people tell him he dribbles too much and other stuff but that's how he got famous. He had a goal and he achieved it, he saw how to use media and succeeded in his own way and it worked out.
